Bradford-based company retains position in worldwide social responsibility survey
21 Sep 2006
Bradford-based Provident Financial has successfully retained its position in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the second year running, scoring more than double the index average in the corporate citizenship, social reporting, and environmental management and reporting categories.
The index, which is compiled using data from 2,500 of the world’s largest companies, lists the top 250 companies measured by socially responsible business practices, particularly in areas of economic, environmental and social leadership.
Provident achieved 96% for corporate citizenship, 94% for social reporting, 87% for environmental management and 65% for environmental reporting.
David Stevenson, Head of Communications, comments,
“We work hard to achieve year on year improvements in our corporate responsibility programme because we believe this will help us build a profitable, more sustainable business. We're delighted to be recognised for our efforts and to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for the second year in a row.”
